Grey’s Anatomy Season 13: What’s to Come?

Edith Gonzalez, Staff Writer

Grey’s Anatomy is a medical drama show that focuses on a group of doctors at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle and Season 13 just aired on television September 22.

This ABC hit has drawn in many long time fans since the show came out March 27, 2005. It’s one of the longest running shows on television and fans are just as excited for Season 13.

This season will be the first that does not include Sara Ramirez as Dr. Callie Torres, however Tessa Ferrer, is coming back as Leah Murphy. She was last seen on the Season 10 finale where she was having an intimate relationship with Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and was fired from the hospital.

Many people have made speculations that the beloved Cristina Yang was coming back for Season 13. However, Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang) has confirmed that this was in fact not true. “I’ve gotta tell you those rumors, I don’t know who starts them but it really is tough,” Sandra told ET Canada at the Toronto International Film Festival. “No, I have no plans to return to Grey’s anytime soon.”

Episode 1 of Season 13 was full of action. Alex, the hospitals most lovable “hothead,” catches DeLuca at the worst time. He snapped at him and gave him a good beating. Surprisingly, Alex was the one to take DeLuca to the hospital and pretended like nothing was wrong. Meanwhile, Meredith was covering for him. Finally, toward the end of the episode Meredith turns him in only to find him being cuffed and taken away by the police.

In the following episodes, charges are being filed against Alex while his attorney struggles to defend him.  Meanwhile, April Kepner is recovering from her kitchen knife incision that Ben (Dr. Warren) made when they were trapped inside Meredith’s house as Kepner’s baby was on the way, just hours before Hunt and Amelia’s wedding. Maggie is now dealing with Riggs rejection making it awkward and uncomfortable for all of her friends.

Alex is now having a hard time at the clinic when every opportunity for a surgery is being rejected. Slowly, people are losing his trust. Meanwhile, with April and Jackson’s new baby, Jackson is becoming overly tired and can’t stay awake during his surgeries.

Considering only 5 episodes have aired on television there’s a long way to go but soon fans will find out how this season will end, and who knows maybe there will even be a season 14.
