Where you want to vacation in the fall depends on what you want to see. Here are some cool ideas that encompass everything that makes the fall season special.

Many people vacation in the fall to see the colors. An example of a place where one might find these is Northern California. You don’t have to travel all the way to the East Coast! You can find the fall colors in regions such as San Francisco, Mammoth Lakes, and Sacramento. If you go to San Francisco you can catch a baseball or football game and check out the foliage at the same time. Also, the weather won’t be extreme, you probably won’t experience any snow or temperatures over 80’ in the fall.

In Mammoth, the colors, mountains, and lakes come together to create a beautiful scene. Also, there is a number of other activities that may interest you such as biking, fishing, hiking, and horseback riding.

If you’re willing to go a little further, Vancouver, Canada is a place where you get the whole package. The colors can be seen at places such as Stanley Park, a 4 square-kilometer forest with a walkway on the circumference. It also has water to the West and East. In addition, there are two festivals, the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Halloween Parade & Expo which you might enjoy.

Aspen is in Colorado. It is another great place for viewing the fall colors as you may have guessed from it’s name. Aspen are a kind of tree. “Aspen leaves turn a rich yellow hue in the fall and literally shimmer in the breeze when the sun hits them.” stated Fodor’s Travel. Amazing views are everywhere from the mountains to the contrasting tree colors.

You could also consider the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. I visited this place in the Summer and the waterfalls are magnificent. The colors are there in the fall as well. In addition, many other activities are available such as river rafting, fishing, and hiking.

There are some festivals special to fall that can be noted. One is the National Apple Harvest Festival, in Pennsylvania. “Held at the South Mountain Fairgrounds, the festival is a true apple-palooza; visitors can go apple-bobbing, drink fresh-pressed cider, chow down on apple dumplings and apple sauce, and, of course, get a few, fresh apples to enjoy. Held during the first two weekends in October, the festival also features craftspeople, square dancing, Native American dancers and live music.”reported Travel Channel.

The Harvest Fest is held in many cities. Famous ones include Sonoma County, California, Hood River Valley, Oregon, Monticello,Virginia, and Sante Fe, New Mexico.

There are many places here in America that are prime fall vacation locations. Pick a favorite and suggest it to your friends or family!
