As of September 28th, 2017, King Salman of Saudi Arabia has declared that women can now drive, and the law will be placed into action in June of 2018.

After the strive for equality, when women were forbidden to drive until the announcement in 2017, when women who did drive, were caught and arrested and had their passports confiscated.

King Salman had decreed that women could drive after stating, ¨Women are half our population. They are a capable half of our population. Without them we cannot move forward.¨

Liyana Harrison an 8th grader said, ¨Honestly it makes me a little bit mad because women should have the right, no matter race or religion, to drive.¨

While many people are happy at this step towards equality, businesses are not quite so happy, specifically Uber, as they provided transportation to the women in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia has been striving for equality, but it has had its struggles as some women in the country don’t really want to change their traditional roles, but in this new age, more and more women are fighting for equality in not only Saudi Arabia, but globally.

I mean first off this is such a great article. Second off they were the only contury that did’ny allow women to drive, and that is so messed up in so many ways. Come on Saudia Arabia thought you were better than this.
