The 17-18 school year is over and there’s so many things I wish I had known throughout my years at Dana.

I’m just giving out advice for those coming into Dana, and those staying here:

  • DO NOT PROCRASTINATE
  • Take care of yourself
  • Don’t take on too much
  • It doesn’t matter what you look or act like, as long as you’re happy with yourself
  • Don’t let the little things upset you, in a few weeks it’ll disappear
  • WASH YOUR FACE
  • Make friends, you’ll lose half of them by the end of the year
  • You are perfect in your own ways, nobody can say otherwise
  • LISTEN TO THE WASH YOUR FACE ONE!!!

I know some of this you’ll just look over, but eventually you’re going to need to. I learned near the end of 8th grade that you shouldn’t worry about anything other than your happiness, work, and what’s going to be for dinner. Something on your mind? Talk to someone about it, trust me when I say you know you don’t want to, you need to. Someone picking on you? Go tell a counselor about it, they can help. Homework hard? Teachers will help, just go to tutoring. Also NEVER put significant others over your best friends. Best friends have been here longer, and if you need them, they’d show up at your house within minutes. Boys will just walk in and out of your life, but don’t give them the right to come in and wreck your life. Don’t stay with the latest “trend” make your own. Dress and converse? You go, you rock it! Basketball shorts and tank tops? Okay you’re sporty, you go rock that too.

Point is, keep yourself happy, not anyone else but you. You do you, and stay happy. Go outside often, don’t stay in your room on your phone or computer. Seriously grab a good book, you’ll find one or get recommendations.

Good luck to everyone next year, you can do anything you put your mind to.
