Conspiracies: The Walking Dead Season Seven Premieres October 23rd!

What should fans expect?

The iconic TV series, “The Walking Dead,” based on the comic made by Robert Kirkman, has attracted a lot of attention. Becoming one of the most beloved American horror/drama shows, it’s now entering its 7th season, adding many new aspects and dynamics, while keeping its fans guessing. The show takes place in the post-apocalyptic America filled with zombies (or otherwise known as walkers), and relies on its character development and brilliant writing to maintain its popularity. From new characters to dramatic plot twists, here are a few interesting things we should expect from “The Walking Dead” season seven.

First, we have the dreaded Negan, leader of the group named “The Saviors.” Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, an iconic character that long-time viewers have been waiting for,  has finally arrived to the TV show, and fans are going crazy with this insane and devilish character. He may be one of the worst antagonists that we will ever see in “The Walking Dead,” proving to be far more evil and corrupt than the Governor, the “Termites” of “Terminus,” or Merle Dixon. At the end of season 6, Negan and his precious barbed-baseball bat named Lucille kill off one of the main characters in one of the most famous cliffhangers in recent TV history. Anticipating the reveal of the killed character, fans have made many theories for who it may be.

The potential victim of Negan’s vicious attack may include one or more of the following main characters: Abraham, Eugene, Glenn, Michonne, or Daryl. It has been mainly  speculated that Glenn will become Negan’s victim in the premier, having to do with the comic. Some theories suggest there may be another victim in addition to Glenn. With Daryl and Michonne, the loss of either of them would be truly devastating, due to their complex personalities touching the hearts of fans. Eugene and Abraham, newer characters, having just begun to open up to the cast and the fans.

The Glenn theory, although, is backed by an actual credible source. During Comedy Central’s @Midnight show, Robert Kirkman, creator of TWD, shared by “accident” who was killed by Negan. “Eventually a character named Negan is introduced, and he’s going to bash in Glenn’s brains with a baseball bat called Lucille.” This was a shocker for many fans. With the information gathered, from various sources, evidence shows us that Glenn is the most likely character killed in the season 6 finale. While each theory is equally devastating, fans have been keeping a keen eye out for other hints. So, Glenn has already escaped death multiple times, even fooling the audience, but this time will his luck run out?

Next, we have a very important plot twist: Carl’s corruption. Carl is a teenager who is in a very impressionable stage, in which Negan may take him under his wing. Carl’s character has evolved with his age, forever changed by the things he has seen and endured. Changing allegiance could be devastating to both fans and the characters. This would significantly affect Rick, seeing his son lost to the crazed lunatic Negan. While talking to fans, Andrew Lincoln, actor for Rick Grimes, says, “I’m interested in the relationship between Negan and Carl and Carl and Rick. There’s a very complicated, extraordinary psychology between those characters.” This hints to fans a battle between Rick and Negan will take place to either persuade Carl and keep him as reliable ally, or a devastating enemy. So what will happen to Carl? Will we see him fighting alongside his father, or will we see him against his family that he, and we, have come to love?

Lastly, we have King Ezekiel, played by Khary Payton, leader of “The Kingdom”, in close alliance with The Hilltop Society. Entering season seven, we have learned that the world  is much larger than Rick and his group first thought with other encampments. The Kingdom in the comics was originally a college campus until fortified and colonized by Ezekiel and his group. King Ezekiel also proves to be quite interesting, as he was former zookeeper, and has his pet lion, Shiva, always at his side. Ezekiel, also an anticipated character, much like Negan, will soon close ally to Rick, sharing the same hate for Negan. The Kingdom plays an important role this season, currently with Morgan and Carol in their care. Ezekiel’s “scouts” in season six find a badly wounded Carol. These “scouts” were on horses, carrying large home-mad, spear-like weapons wearing what seems to be ballistic padded armor. They represent how the citizens of “The Kingdom” may be. Well armed, they could be valuable allies in season 7 with the battle against Negan.

And there we have it, a few theories and plot twists to speculate until the highly anticipated premier on  Oct. 23rd, 2016 on AMC. Walking Dead fans out there are counting the days to see fates of their favorite characters and who will be introduced to the world of “The Walking Dead.”
