10 Free Things to Do Over Summer Break

Do you ever get bored or can’t decide on what to do over summer break? Well here’s 10 things that are free you can do over summer.

  1. Go to the park. Thankfully, San Pedro has many parks like Friendship, Peck, Averill and many more. You can do many things like have a picnic, take photos or simply just play around on the playsets.
  2. Go to the beach. Since we live in California, there are many beaches you can drive or walk to. You may have to pay for parking but you can always park away from the beach or walk for an alternative.
  3. Geocache. If you never heard of geocache it is a outdoor activity and it’s basically treasure hunting outside but you use GPS-enabled devices. This can be a great way to try something new and get to know your surroundings.Image result for geocache
  4. Go to the library. Believe it or not, most libraries are free. This a good way to keep your reading counts up during summer but you can also use the computers. Sometimes different libraries will have activities that you can also participate in.
  5. Clean your room. If you’re bored try cleaning your room. It can kill two birds with one stone by keeping you busy and get a clean room out of it. Also your parents might like this idea too.
  6. Go for a hike. There’s many hills and trails that you can find and go on a hike. This can keep you fit and active over summer break. Not only that but if you have a dog or friend you can take them which can be a fun experience.
  7. Visit a free museum or zoo. Try finding a zoo or museum that interests you and visit it. Also if possible, try bringing your own snacks so you don’t have to pay.
  8. Volunteer. There’s many opportunities you can volunteer like beach clean ups or a nearby animal shelter. Either way you can really help someone and have some fun. 
  9. Play a sport. Find a sport you can play easily with minimal gear. Like there’s basketball courts and fields you can play on during the summer and you can invite your friends to come with.
  10. Have a sleepover. Invite your friends over whip out some snacks and watch a movie or play video games. This way you can keep in contact over summer and waste some free time.
