Winter has finally arrived and some families are preparing for their share of fun whether its a trip to somewhere exotic, a feast with family, or just chilling and watching a movie. Let’s be honest here, most of the best movies are filmed in winter and you can’t seem to get them off your mind. Some movies are remembered by their theme of winter. Sometimes winter is used in catastrophic scenes and sometimes it’s used in romantic scenes to warm us up. So here are the classic movies to watch during Christmas as you warm up by the fire.
Christmas With The Kranks
The Christmas with the Kranks is actually a film adaption of the best seller Skipping Christmas. The famous story is about two parents Luther and Nora Krank as their daughter Claire leaves for college leaving them to spend Christmas alone. With Claire gone Luther comes up with an idea he deems to be amazing, skip Christmas. When Nora lets the plan slip word spreads fast and soon the whole neighborhood knows about the Kranks plan to skip Christmas. The movie has scenes that you won’t be able to help but laugh and the movie does a great job of portraying how family will always stick together even through its faults
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
The movie follows a full series of the famous National Lampoon’s Vacation as Clark Griswald travels around the world with his family. In this film Christmas is vastly approaching and Clark Griswald is doing everything in his power to make this the perfect family Christmas. He pesters his wife and children to make sure everything like the tree and decorations are perfectly in line. Things take a turn for the worse when Clark’s cousin Eddide makes a sudden appearance with his whole family in his run down trailer. From that moment on, things get worse for the Griswalds and the perfect Christmas seems so far away. This Christmas movie is perfect for the family as it shows you how anything that can go wrong, WILL go wrong for the Griswalds.
A Christmas Story
The movie is set in the 1940s as a nine year old Ralphie tries to convince everyone that the perfect Christmas present would be a Red Ryder BB Gun. As everyone tells him the same line, ‘You’ll shoot your eye out’ he has no choice but to turn to the last person, Santa. Sadly he only gets the same answer, but that won’t stop him from trying again and again. As Ralphie searches for his gift his parents do their best to have the perfect Christmas, but their efforts end them in the same place as the Griswalds from before. Ralphie constantly fights with his stubborn father and is left to be comforted by his mother so how can the Christmas possibly be perfect. Even as everything seems ruined for the family they try again and again to make their Christmas perfect at least just this one time.
Scrooged was a modern film of the famous book and movie A Christmas Carol. Our modern film follows the story of a successful television executive Frank cross as his cold heart and ambitious attitude drives away the love of his life Clarie Phillips. He fires one of his employees and right after he gets a visit from the man who had his spot years ago. This man who is supposed to be dead takes him to three ghosts who then give him a chance to right his wrongs. The modern film gives the book and movie a turn for the better as Bill Murray causes the audience to let out cheerful laughs.
Jingle All the Way
Jingle All The Way is a funny, heartwarming, and and amazing movie. The main protagonist is a workaholic father Howard Lanston as he puts all his time and work to his job as a mattress salesman. In order to make it up to his son Jamie, Howard promises him Turbo Man for Christmas. This toy just happens to be the hottest toy in America and Howard is out hunting for it on Christmas Eve. the toy is practically sold out in every store and on this journey Howard meets Myron, a mailman in search for the same exact toy. Myron isn’t the only obstacle in Howard’s path, wife stealing Ted Maltin, sketchy santas, and even ticked off police officers.
